Terms of Use

Last updated: 10 June 2026 (including lines related to multi-sports such as basketball and service purpose)
Open Beta: The Sidelines is currently in active testing across football and basketball workflows. Features may change, calculations may be incorrect, and bugs may occur. Basketball features may not always match football features.

By accessing or using The Sidelines website or app, you agree to the following terms:

1. Who we are

The Sidelines (the “Service”, “we”, “us”) operates the websites "thesidelines.co.uk", "thesidelines.app", "The Sidelines" app on Android and related apps/tools. Contact: info@thesidelines.app.

2. Purpose of the Service

This Service is provided as a tool for grassroots sports tracking, match statistics, reporting, team insights and related management across supported sports, including football and basketball.

The Service may include live or post-match tracking, public or private report links, QR codes, team insights, focus player reports, and other sport-specific tools. Features, calculations and terminology may vary between sports.

By entering, uploading or generating data through the Service, you agree that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the app owner may use, store, copy, analyse, adapt, combine, aggregate, derive value from, and otherwise use that data now and in the future for operating, improving, developing, supporting and commercialising the Service.

This includes match statistics, team information, action data, reports, derived metrics, aggregated outputs and non-identifying analysis generated from use of the Service. The app owner owns the database, reports, derived analytics, aggregated outputs, generated materials and other materials created by or through the Service, except where applicable law gives individuals rights in their personal data or where third-party rights apply.

This is a new service and we regularly improve and correct it as issues are identified. The Service is provided on an ‘as is’ basis. While we aim for calculations, data and outputs to be useful and accurate, errors may occur and outputs should not be treated as official match records, referee decisions, league records, medical advice, safeguarding advice, or professional scouting assessments.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss, damage or other consequence arising from inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable information on the Service.

3. Data Privacy

You are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws when entering any personal information (such as player names). If the data pertains to children, you confirm you have appropriate authority and consents (for example, from a parent/guardian, or your club) to input that data.

You should avoid entering unnecessary personal information. In particular, you should consider using initials, shirt numbers or team-level information where that is sufficient.

4. Public links, QR codes and shared reports

The Service may allow users to create public or shareable links, QR codes and reports. Anyone with access to a public link or QR code may be able to view the information shown in that report.

You are responsible for deciding whether a report should be public or private and for ensuring that shared reports do not include information you are not authorised to share. This is especially important where reports relate to children or grassroots teams.

5. Sport-specific features

The Service supports different sports and workflows. Football and basketball features, statistics, reports, insights, terminology and availability may differ.

We may add, change, rename, restrict or remove sport-specific features at any time, particularly while the Service remains in open beta.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, including text, graphics, logos, designs, reports, analytics, outputs, database structures and derived materials created by or through the Service, is owned by the app owner or licensed for use by the app owner and is protected under intellectual property laws. Unauthorised reproduction is prohibited.

7. Acceptable use

You must not: (a) breach any law or third-party rights; (b) try to access accounts or data you don’t control; (c) copy, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service; (d) upload unlawful, defamatory, or infringing content; or (e) attempt to overload or disrupt the Service.

8. Termination

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or misuse the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time and can request deletion of your personal data as set out in the Privacy Policy (below).

9. Third-party services

The Service may rely on third-party providers, including hosting, analytics, authentication and payment processing services. Their terms, conditions and privacy practices may apply in addition to these Terms.

If you access the Service through an app store or platform, such as Google Play, that platform’s own terms, policies and payment rules may also apply.

10. Trials and subscriptions

Some features of the Service may require a trial or paid subscription. Trial availability, duration and eligibility may be changed, limited or withdrawn at our discretion.

Paid subscriptions may renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date. Access to paid features may be reduced, suspended or removed if a subscription is cancelled, expires, or a payment is unsuccessful.

Unless stated otherwise, a subscription provides access to the available subscribed features of the Service, but does not guarantee that every sport, report type, insight, beta feature or workflow will remain available or unchanged.

11. Payments, cancellations and refunds

Web payments are currently processed by Stripe. If you use a paid subscription, Stripe’s terms and privacy notice may also apply.

You may cancel renewal of a paid subscription at any time. Cancellation will usually stop future renewals but will not normally create a refund for the current billing period unless required by law. Refund requests may be considered at our discretion.

12. Privacy Policy

By using the Service, you consent to us using the data you enter into the app. Our approach is to collect as little personal data as possible. To operate the Service, this may include your email address, name, team information, billing or contact information, and other information you submit. Payment-related information may also be processed by third-party payment providers.

If you would like to know what data we hold about you, or if you would like us to remove your data, please contact us at info@thesidelines.app.
